I've been doing business with PIE since day one. In late summer, 2000 I brought my 1987 Chrysler New Yorker to PIE in order to have the stock '318 replaced with a fuel injected '360. The TB/EFI kit was among the earliest products developed by PIE. My hope was to reduce an estimated 17-second(+) quarter-mile time to a fairly respectable 14 seconds, or so.
Basically, this was a straight-stock, off the assembly line, car. Very clean! Then, almost immaculate in appearance. I realized that being at late-middle age, probably I no longer had the endurance to run very fast cars, but I wanted to be able to make a few meager passes while I could still walk.
Well, that was in late-summer 2000. Now, it is late-summer 2011, and I'm still waiting for the finished car. Recently, PIE informed me that the engine was nearly completed. Apparently, they were still waiting for one part or another to arrive from God knows where. I'm not sure that the car still exists. To you Forum subscriber's who have been to the PIE shop, please let me know if you've seen any trace of my white, '87 New Yorker.
Maybe, it doesn't matter after-all. Now, it's becoming increasingly difficult to hold a steering-wheel firmly in the grasp of my stiff, arthritic fingers. My failing eyesight will make it hard to see the light-tree, especially in the late-afternoon sun. My knees are shot, and I have the gout in my right foot. I wonder if NHRA has track rules for blind, crippled drivers?
I know that Chris and the guy's are always very busy. And, I know, that for the most part, work is turned-out on time. I guess Dad's don't count.
